Orchard Fundraising is a specialist business, offering strategic consultancy and practical support to charities and not-for-profits, including educational institutions and religious organisations. The business has expanded steadily since in foundation its 2016, even while providing pro-bono support during the pandemic.

 

We are now looking to take the next steps in business growth, seeking to double our turnover again within the next two years. To achieve this ambitious target, we are looking for a Business Development Manager (BDM) to facilitate the recruitment of new clients and assist the strategic management of the company.

 

Orchard Fundraising has developed a set of loyal clients, with most new business arising from recommendations by existing clients. To take the next step, we need to be more systematic and targeted in our marketing and approach to new business.

 

The BDM will lead on improving our understanding of the market, making targeted approaches to potential clients and preparing tenders and proposals for new work. The role will also include discussions of business strategy and delivery, including providing advice on the services the company offers.

 

We are looking for an experienced business development professional. Fundraising experience is an advantage, but no specific qualifications are necessary. Having personal characteristics compatible with the company ethos is essential.

 

The BDM will be a self-employed associate of Orchard Fundraising, working part time, mainly from home. As part of the role may include liaison with local charities, the LEP, Orchard Fundraising management, etc, the postholder is likely to be based in or near Gloucestershire.

Orchard Fundraising is proud of its highly personable approach to its Associates and is adaptable to a range of working arrangements. We anticipate perhaps 10 hours per week, which apart from occasional meetings, can be conducted at any time.

Rates of pay are negotiable dependent on experience.

An initial six-month contract should be sufficient to demonstrate the effectiveness of your approach. Longer term there is huge scope for expansion of the business and of the BDM post.

 

The role might suit a partially retired professional, or someone who wants an interesting and challenging role which can be conducted around other activities.
