Helen Rana
Fundraising Consultant
Helen supports educational, arts and heritage organisations in the UK and abroad with strategic planning,
bid development and bid writing. She is also experienced at running grant programmes and evaluating
applications from a funder’s perspective, including roles as Head of Policy at educational charity Jisc, and
Assessor for the Association of Commonwealth Universities.
She has an MSc in Strategy, Change and Leadership from Bristol University, an MPhil in Historical Studies
from Cambridge University, an MA in Film and TV Studies from Westminster University, and a BA (Hons)
in Communication and Media Production from Bournemouth University.
Helen is an accomplished creative writer, and was a Writer Associate at Bath Spa University in 2017-21.
She has written a non-fiction book about organisational cultures, her short stories have been published in
anthologies, and her six full-length and seven short screenplays have all won awards and been selected
for film festivals.
Helen lives in Bristol with her two adult sons, loves reading, and is an enthusiastic volunteer for several
groups in museums, music and heritage.
